Endurance LMP2
As in 2010, the Team ORECA-Matmut will line up two prototypes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Along with the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, the team will enter an ORECA 03, with a Nismo V8 and Michelin tyres. Therefore, Hugues de Chaunac’s men will be present both in LMP1 and LMP2.
In addition to the top class entry, in which the team has run since 2008, the Team ORECA-Matmut received an invitation from the ACO to participate in the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The philosophy behind this entry is different: the goal is increase ORECA’s profile as a constructor, a program begun in 2008 and continuing with the launch of the ORECA 03. As new rules take effect in the sport, ORECA is tackling the twice-around-the-clock classic with one mission: accumulate a maximum of information to benefit customers during the development of the car in the coming months.
At the same time, it also allows the Team ORECA-Matmut to have two chances at success. The team will count on the ORECA 03, in addition to the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, to finish on the podium. Soheil Ayari, long-time Team ORECA-Matmut driver, will be this ambitious squad’s leader.
